In 2023. I begun working with Sore ,The Pew Foundation and South Carolina Department of natural resources on a clam restoration project . We grow the clams and disperse them in designated areas that have shown a decline in population. These efforts are being made in to help Restore and increase the population . The cramps will be grown to a designated size and dispersed .the clams (close To Harvestable size. These clams are being grown in Brackish water Confined ponds that have the ability to empty and fill completely every day during a normal tide cycle. The clams are being grown and three different ways, Suspended in a floating Tumblr Always submerged, but not on the bottom. The next way that they are being grown is inOyster mash grow out bags pinned to the bottom Partially covered by natural sediment moved during normal Tide change.and in a Mesh grow out bag in a bottom cage, not allowed to be covered and exposed to air at low tide. The significants Of this project is growing them in impoundment and the fluctuations in Salinity During normal rain events for short periods of time and clams, grown protected from predators with regular air exposure.
